Turning an eight-month dwell season into a grid asset
220 seasonal slips where vessels sit plugged in for eight months. Forty bidirectional pedestals now bid stored battery capacity into the utility's summer peak program.

The starting point
- Electricity was bundled into slip fees, so the marina absorbed every kilowatt-hour of shore power.
- A growing fleet of electric and hybrid cruisers pushed the C dock loop close to its service limit.
- Summer afternoon demand charges were the single largest line item on the utility bill.
The build
Phase 1
Metering first
Every pedestal was submetered before any bidirectional hardware landed, giving the marina a real baseline within one billing cycle.
Phase 2
Pilot on C dock
Sixteen bidirectional pedestals went onto the longest-dwell loop, where boats stay connected from May through October.
Phase 3
Program enrollment
Aggregated slip capacity was enrolled in the utility's summer peak-shaving program with GridLinq handling dispatch and settlement.
Phase 4
Full-season expansion
Twenty-four more pedestals were added the following spring, funded entirely out of first-year program revenue.
